What are the different types of lightbulb fittings?
The two most common lightbulb fittings are bayonet caps and the Edison screw cap. So what is the difference? A bayonet cap is known as a “twist and lock” fitting and has two pins so when you install it, you will feel it lock into place when you have screwed it in. A screw cap was invented by Thomas Edison, has a threaded base and is the easiest bulb fitting as all you have to do is screw it into the light fitting. The first thing you must know is that some cleaning solutions are not compatible with certain light fittings. When cleaning chrome lights or glass, for the most effective clean use a mixture of white vinegar and water solution – 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar. When cleaning metal or plastic, for the most effective clean use a mixture of warm water and soap to gently clean. When cleaning fabric, for the most effective clean, simply use a lint roller to remove the dirt. What is the best light for a bedroom?
When it comes to choosing the right light it is always best to consider not only the design but to consider the size of the fitting. Firstly, it is always best to find a light that suits your aesthetics and complements the decor of the room. Secondly, its good to consider the wattage of the bulb you will be using for your light to ensure it is neither too bright nor too dim for the room. And finally, it is best to consider the size of the fitting, if it is too large it may make the room feel cramped, but too small it may make the room look bare.
